BADGE CATEGORIES

Specialization badges allow you to develop your own path through the course material. There are five badge categories: coding, graphic design, user experience design, power user skills, and entrepreneurship.

The specialization badge grade accounts for 35% of your overall grade. In order to earn an A badge grade, students must master at least four specialization badges, with at least one programming badge. In order to earn a B badge grade, students must master at least three specialization badges, with at least one programming badge. In order to earn a C badge grade students must complete at least two specialization badges, and one of these must be a programming badge.

Empowered Users

The empowered user badges emphasize a broad range of skills and concepts that every citizen should have in his or her toolkit.

Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurship badges encourage you to take control of your future by effectively marketing your technical, creative and analytical skills.

Graphic Design

A bit of graphic design knowledge goes a long way. The graphic design badges cover grid-based design, typography, logos, and minimalist design.

Programming

Code is power. From experimenting with geolocation to developing mobile apps, the programming badges encourage you to take control of the increasingly ubiquitous machines that rule our lives.

User Experience

As Susan Dray once noted, "if the user can't use it, it doesn't work." The user experience badges highlight techniques for diagnosing usability problems and designing humane interfaces.
